Fatmata came to Freetown from Monama in Moyamba District when she was 12 to help her cousin with petty trading. Her cousin would fry the coconut cake and she would then go and sell the coconut. Fatmata is one of seven children, her parents who are farmers were struggling to look after all seven children.
Fatmata approached our Director, Ivor in 2019 asking to attend the school. She had no sponsor and no way of paying school fees, but she was admitted without uniform. In time she made money from selling gari to buy her uniform. Fatmata is a bright student, however the trading during the week is affecting her studies.
A mentor would help her to streamline and diversify her business so that she can make more money using less of her study time.
We will keep her sponsor updated with her progress.
